Poem written to John for the 10th Reunion:

To Johnny,

An ordinary day,
trapped in normal routine.
Hank Jr. sings on the radio,
I stop.

My average mood changes,
a sadness takes over.
The reality of your absence,
I cry.

An image of you in my mind.
A smile I will not forget.
A time with you remembered,
I smile.

A peace comes over me,
the assurance of a promise.
A gift given to all mankind,
I have faith.

You are safe where you’ve gone,
waiting for those left behind.
We will meet again,
I believe.
